The selected plays for the "Youth’s Theater Competition Section"

The selection committee for the 29th International Theater Festival for Children and Youth in Hamedan has revealed the shortlisted plays for the festival's final stage.

According to the Public Relations Office of the 29th International Theater Festival for Children and Youth, the selection committee for the "Youth’s Theater Competition Section," comprising Azade Ansari, Hamid Ebrahimi, and Elika Abdolrazaghi, reviewed the submitted productions and announced the selected plays.

The titles of the plays selected for the "Youth’s Theater Competition Section" are as follows:

1. "The Fictional Tale of Hoshun and Forti Brid," playwright and director: Amir Behbodnia from Shiraz, Fars Province (conditional)

2. "The Atropats," playwright: Aghil Jamaati, director: Hossein Asadi from Khark Island, Bushehr Province

3. "The Blue Bird," playwright: Maurice Maeterlinck, translated by Abdolhossein Nooshin, director: Mehrdad Moheb Alizadeh from Rasht, Gilan Province

4. "The Story of the Noble Rascals", playwright: Yadollah Agha Abbasi, director: Keyvan Habibi Ghorani from Qazvin, Qazvin Province

5. "The Little Prince", playwright and director: Amir Sheikh Jebeli from Isfahan, Isfahan Province

6. "Lopeto", playwright and director: Seyed Arash Sharifzadeh from Tehran, Tehran Province (conditional)

7. "Mahbod and His Dream of Shahnameh," playwright and director: Vahid Abdollahi from Hamedan, Hamedan Province (conditional)

8. "Yasa Pelkeh Sura Kan," playwright and director: Mousa Hedayati from Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province (conditional)

9. "The Orphanage of Prinkito", playwright and director: Faezeh Noabadi from Gorgan, Golestan Province (conditional)

 

The 29th "International Theater Festival for Children and Youth – Hamedan," by artistic directed by of Amir Mashhadi Abbas and organized by the Dramatic Arts Center of Iran of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, with the support of Hamedan Municipality and in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Hamedan Province and the Iranian Performing Arts Association, will be held in the historical city of Hamedan in November 2024. The festival slogan is "Theater: A Dialogue Without Borders." The festival aims to "foster empathy and cooperation, as well as the growth, awareness, and confidence of Iranian children through the art of theater."

Other objectives of the 29th International Theater Festival for Children and Youth include

  • "realizing the social participation of children and youth,"
  • "promoting public culture,"
  • "strengthening the foundations of family and intergenerational communication,"
  • "citizenship education and enhancing responsibility by encouraging active participation of Iranian children and youth in theatrical productions."
